This was O’Brien’s first solo show outside of Ireland, in DIVUS London, Enclave 5, London, UK.

It was curated by fellow artist Beth Fox, who he had been in the same Sculpture & Combined Media degree with in the Limerick School of Art & Design, Ireland.

M.O.B:
It\u2019s an aspect of my work to play upon the degrees of separation people create in their lives to others and our conception of separation in the first place.

What I like about the humour is that I can see it arise naturally without trying to prove some point or fulfil an idea or limitation.

I think the real power in art & creativity is not in pedagogy but in genuine engagements that challenge the evolution of your consciousness.

<\/strong>I think this can only come about when the artist can first achieve this evocation in themselves.

One Keith Haring quote always stuck in my head that I feel relevant to my practice: \u201cA true artist is only a vehicle.\u201d You decide the meaning.

The minimal black line of the drawings provoke you into your own mental process rather than me telling you something definite.\u00a0

Hanging out with Nigel Rolf was a great experience.\u00a0
